Title Facilities on Ascension Island and improved access for British civil aircraft (1970)
Description US Government's wish to conclude a broader Agreement for the expanded use of Ascension Island however the UK is concerned over the Soviet delegation at the UN which took care to ensure that the use of the Island as a staging post during the 1964 Stanleyville operation should not be forgotten and any public mention of Ascension would be bound to lead to renewed criticism from Communist and Afro/Asia quarters.
